About StitchIt Cohorts

Become part of a welcoming community of quilters at the Artists Art Center. The StitchIt Cohort is a sewing circle experience designed for those who love fiber and textile arts. It is a place where community crafts with intention. We believe in the power and rhythm of the sewing machine, the thread and needle, and the connection of bringing people together. Whether your style is traditional, modern, artistic, abstract, functional, or heirloom-inspired, StitchIt Cohorts welcomes you. Each gathering is an opportunity to explore new techniques, discover creative inspiration, and share the stories stitched into our work.

The Fine Print: Threading Room Rules

  1. Create with Kindness and Respect  We welcome quilters and fiber artists of all levels, styles, and creative backgrounds. Everyone’s artistic journey is different, so encourage one another, respect creative choices, and use the space to learn, grow, and inspire.
  2.  Support the Process – Not every project will be finished perfectly, and that’s part of the craft. Share ideas, offer encouragement, and help create an environment where works in progress are celebrated just as much as finished pieces.
  3. Engage and Participate Bring your creativity into the room. Participate in icebreakers, challenges, discussions, and collaborative moments. Whether you’re actively sewing or simply gathering inspiration that day, your presence contributes to the community.
  4. Keep it Fiber Focused We welcome conversation and connection, but the heart of StitchIt Cohort is sewing, quilting, textile artistry, and creative growth. Please help maintain a space centered around making and meaningful artistic exchange.
  5. Respect Shared Spaces and Tools – Please clean your workspace, return shared tools and materials, and help maintain a welcoming environment for everyone creating alongside you.
  6. Celebrate Creativity & Growth – The Artists Art Center believes creativity thrives in community. Don’t be surprised if we blend quilting with storytelling, wellness, reflection, demonstrations or collaborative art experiences along the way. It’s all part of what makes us unique.

Join Us for Scraps to Stars Quilt Retreat

A StitchIt Cohorts Member Perk | What began with scraps will become something extraordinary. This retreat is designed for quilters ready to build their confidence while sharpening their techniques to take their skills to the next level.

Taking place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, this special StitchIt Cohorts retreat focuses on transforming scrap-friendly fabrics into beautifully structured star quilt blocks while exploring the art of precision piecing, contrast, layout design, and making points meet with greater accuracy.

Through guided instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on support, participants will learn techniques that create dynamic movement and striking visual balance within their quilts. This retreat is for those looking to improve their piecing skills, better understand color and value placement or simply enjoy a focused day of instruction lead quilting techniques. This is the perfect opportunity to grow creatively through the art of quilting.

As a valued benefit of membership, StitchIt Cohort members will receive first access to register for the retreat before registration opens to the public in July. A space that’s intentionally limited to create a relaxed and engaging learning experience.

The Quilted Canvas

As participants sip their favorite tea, they’ll be guided through a mini-project or quilt blocks designed to reflect the tone, imagery, or emotion of a shared theme. While needles are threaded, the room fills up with creativity, connection, and intentional making.

Step into a world where texture, color, and craftsmanship intertwine for a new kind of creative escape: a special Sip & Paint session inspired by the art of quilting and fiber storytelling. Settle into the rhythm of stitching, curated music, and artist spotlights for creative reflections designed to complement the experience.

Sit and Sew Thursdays

A  creative space for all fiber and textile artists to work on projects each week alongside fellow makers who share a love for the craft. Whether you quilt, embroider, crochet, knit, cross-stitch, appliqué, or explore other textile arts, bring your own supplies and enjoy a relaxed environment designed for creativity, connection, and consistent making.

As a member of StitchIt Cohort, you are invited to participate during the 1st and 2nd weeks of each month as an included benefit offering dedicated time to create, stay inspired, and grow in community.

The Seasonal Storied Reading Series

We’re spotlighting stories that reflect the artistry and transformative power of quilting and creative community. This season, we’re highlighting A Single Thread, by Tracy Chevalier, a moving story about a woman rebuilding her life through stitching, purpose, and the quiet strength found within a community of makers. It’s a beautiful reflection of the spirit in which creativity, healing, craftsmanship, and connection come together, one stitch at a time.
